Obituary - David Joseph Boyd

David Joseph Boyd, 37, died January 4, 2012.

A native of Conyers, GA, he was the oldest son of Keith Boyd of Cumming and Sheila Harris Boyd of Conyers.

David was a 1992 graduate of Rockdale County High School where he was an outstanding student athlete and championship wrestler. He attended Lambeth University in Jackson, TN where he was a four-year letterman and captain of the football team. David returned to his alma mater as a coach and teacher. In 1998 he moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career and returned to the Athens area in 2005. David was a partner with A & M Fencing Supply in Bogart and most recently was a regional sales representative for Ameristar Fence Products-a company that he considered part of his family. He was a member and elder of Oconee Presbyterian Church and will be remembered as a loving husband and adoring father.

A Celebration of Life will be Monday, January 9, 2012 at 3:00 PM at Oconee Presbyterian Church with Rev. Pam Driesell officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.

Survivors in addition to his parents include his wife, Lisa Becker Boyd; two children, Isabelle “Izzy” Boyd and Captain “Cap” David Boyd, whose namesake was Captain David Harris – grandfather and mentor to David and one of the original Georgia State Troopers. Other survivors include three brothers and sister-in-law, Philip Boyd of Los Angeles, CA, Steven (Kendall) Boyd of Fitzgerald, GA; and Wesley Boyd of Conyers, GA.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Hospice - memo line: David Boyd. In addition a college fund is currently being established for David’s children. Information will be made available at the service.

People are encouraged to continue to donate blood and platelets through the Atlanta Blood Services in memory of David Boyd.
